Treatment

Plot -
Our stop motion video is going to be a sketch comedy using lego figures and what they get up to whilst they are on they're break. It is going to be set in the hard-drive of the Xbox.
Beginning -
We start off with a live action character playing Halo:Reach. They then turn of console and walks out of the room to go and make a sandwich. The title screen appears "Break Time". This will be on a black background with a lego like font (http://www.fontspace.com/spideraysfonts/lego-brix)
Middle -
After the title screen, we see Six get up walk towards the Xbox power button. When he gets to it, the camera zooms into the power button and shows Six riding a car through the electronics of the Xbox towards the hard-drive. He gets out of the car and walks into the canteen, the "cantina band" music starts playing. Six stays still and we then cut to different characters for a few seconds each. They will be talking to themselves or to someone else eg, Stormtrooper at the counter talking to the chef, C3PO talking to R2D2 etc. Six spots Ben Kenobi and heads towards him. He is sitting in the middle of the cantina and sits next to him. They then engage in conversation, talking about everyday topics such as family, jobs etc. One of them mentions the new game Lego Dimensions video game and they then start talking about it. Ben loves the game (a lot of his friends are lego dimension characters) and Six hates it.
End -
Six is about to say a curse word when an alarm starts to go off with a voice over repeating "Alert Alert, Player Returning". Everyone in the canteen then stops what they are doing a runs towards the exit, Ben and Six still sat where they were for a few seconds, Six then tells Ben that he has to go and gets up and walks towards the exit.
Target Audience & Genre -
The genre of our sketch is comedy. We are going to use some funny lines of dialogue and editing techniques to emphasise the fact that this genre is comedy. Our Target audience is going to be people who are casual and major fans of the popular gaming franchise Halo and the well-known Sci-Fi film franchise Star Wars as well as fans of the Lego toys. This will mainly be children and young adults aged between 10 and 19 as we will use one or two curse words but they will not be said fully. E.g one of the characters will say "shi-" and then an alarm will cut him off so the word is said but not completely. A lot of the characters we will use will also be aimed at the target audience as we will use characters from different franchises such as Halo and Star Wars. Our setting also reinforces our genre as it is a staff room inside of an Xbox hard-drive which is quite comical.
Design -
Most of the colours used in our short will be bright and colourful as we are going for a comedy approach with occasional dark colours. The sounds we will use in our short and mainly going to be sound effects as oppose to actual music however we are going to use at least 2 pieces of music which are the "Cantina Band" from Star wars and some sad music during a few seconds of the short.
Techniques -
The technique will be stop motion animation which involves taking a picture for each second so that the lego and the lego figures will move and look alive, this has been a form of animation science the late 1800s and has been used to this day as a excellent for most animation and stop motion. as this as a lego animation it will be hard to have a fluid movement but this can be part of the fact they are lego. It will have voice overs to make the characters look alive and have a entertaining conversation. this will make the story more enjoyable to listen an watch as there will be a listenable narrative for the story rather than it being silent. Everything in the animation is made of lego, all the sets and all the figures. this is why the animation is consistent throughout as it is all made out of the same material, this will make the animation .green screen will be used for the background of the rooms and the car screen in the animation as this will look a lot better than using paper or cardboard as a backdrop.
Principles -
Secondary action will be used in the background of the animation so give it a more live like feel, example boba fett although has no facial features he will be upset and crying because his game got cancelled. this will be evident throughout the whole animation as while figures are talking in the background. Arcs can be used because for six because he has joints, this will make the animation look better overall and can make the movements look more human like. unfortunately with fixed lego its hard to do arcs but some movements can be made with the lego figures
Similar Products -
Quite a lot of YouTube videos are done in this kind of style. One popular YouTube channel that makes stop motion Lego shorts is Forrestfire101. Our short will take inspiration from the animation of this persons videos whereas our idea has taken inspiration from the popular 2010 animated Disney film Wreck it Ralph as our idea consists of characters gathering in a certain place when the people playing the game are away.
