Unit 2 and 3 Research

for my idea for my documentary i will be doing "being LGBT in the UK" and why and how this effects this country.

the types of research i have done is secondary research by using the internet to fine information,i have used sites like Wikipedia and YouTube to gather some information about my subject and also primary research by using my own experience of what its like .

the information that i have found is as follows, since the turn of the 21st century rights for LGBT people has increasingly strengthened in support. today, LGBT citizens have most of the same rights as non-LGBT people. this information has been useful for me to use and to teach a bit about the history of LGBT

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_the_United_Kingdom

with my experience i have noticed that the youth of today are more tolerant towards different sexualities and genders within the community. coming out for me really wasn't difficult with family or friends and they where all very excepting towards the idea that i could have a wife or a husband in the future and it goes to show that in this countries people are getting used  to this idea.

the outlet that was most useful to me was unfortunately Wikipedia it had a lot of info on the rights of LGBT people and the history of thoughts laws also YouTube was a good source of information and it provided info from peoples opinions from the community and for people who support it

survey results

- Do you support LGBT people :yes 7 :no 2
- Do you support same-sex marriage :yes 8 :no 1
- Do you know any LGBT people :yes 5 : no : 4
- What gender are you : male 9 : female 0 : other :
- Where do you live : most of the location was from manchester
- Optional : What sexuality do you define as : heterosexuality : 8 bisexual: 1

this survey shows that people also have mixed opinions about LGBT people in the UK i asked one of the people who do not support LGBT rights to explain why he didn't and it was a basic argument you have to deal with. he said that he thought it was wrong because he was brought up this way. which i obviously don't agree with but it was good information to see the other end of the argument.

the surveys results really helped with collecting data and is very useful in organizing that data it also tells us that the majority of people are for LGBT people and for same-sex marriage which is fantastic information and its very encouraging information

i think that this documentary is a good idea because it would show people more about the differences we have and that we are all equal rather than people that should be looked down on by things we can not control and that i can give new and accurate information to people who have no information or false information about this subject. it may help people come to terms with the fact that they may not be heterosexual and that they know that this is normal and completely ok i also decided to uses quite a controversial subject because people are more interested in subjects that other people don't agree with and that the audience can see another view point there not familiar with

the documentary i used was called "from another perspective "and is about what the struggle would be like if heterosexual couples where shunned out. it is very educational, it also influenced my idea even more by showing me a way to show a different perspective on the topic so that it would be easier for them to understand .it has shown we a different way in which to show my documentary for example maybe have a short story of what its like and it could make the documentary more interesting to watch.

my target audience is by my surveys information a very young audience at about 16 to 18 years of age it also shows that they are very interested in documentary about this subject unfortunetly my servey did not give me enougth information to show what type of social class so i will improve on this at a later date

my marketing campain would be based on the sort of topic i am doing this documentry on so on of the best places it would gain popularity is a pride festival this is where most of the people that feel like they wish to lern about there own comumity and others i would also market it to other countrys so that they would get an more in depth insight into what it is like to be LGBT in the uk and that it is improving and is such a better place to be LGBT rather than other countries where it is frowned apon.

  1. Sean this is a good piece of work. You've used a wide variety of sources for your information such as the internet, surveys, interviews and documentaries. It is clear that you have extracted extremely relevant information from these sources and they have influenced your ideas and thinking on your final documentary. You do need to double check your spelling and grammar as this can get a little messy at times. DISTINCTION.
